Dancers

When I worked in a restaurant in Hollywood in 1976, I was shooting models and actors in my small studio on Sunset Blvd.  I met one who was a dancer and asked if he would do some photos with another dancer I knew from my partner project at Art Center.

He knew of a house we could use that had some interesting windows and bare walls and floors. It had the look of a film set from the 1920s, with high ceilings, round windows and a room full of natural light.

We did the photos in the afternoon when the light was softer, with a mixture of shadows and light.

I made some prints for both David and Steve, then filed the negs away. Some 40 years later I was going through old film and found the several sheets of negs.  I ended up scanning the whole collection and made of choice of this selection.

I liked the soft light and the interaction of both of them. Not bad I thought, since they had just met that very day of the shoot.
